Operation in Sinaloa; more than 34,000 liters of chemicals seized and four arrested

In joint operations by federal and state forces in four municipalities of the state, twenty-four inactive clandestine storage facilities and laboratories were located. A total of 34,710 liters of various chemical substances used to manufacture synthetic drugs were seized, four people were arrested, and nine firearms were confiscated.

The Third Military Region, headquartered in Mazatlán, reported that during joint reconnaissance patrols in the municipalities of Culiacán, Cosalá, and Concordia, 18,750 liters and sixty kilograms of chemical substances were found, along with six automatic rifles, three pistols, 1,002 rounds of ammunition, 57 magazines, a fragmentation grenade, two vehicles, and tactical equipment.

Along with the four civilians arrested, all the seized items—chemical substances, weapons, magazines, ammunition, and tactical equipment—were turned over to the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office for investigation.

The State Public Security Secretariat announced that, as part of Operation “Search, Location, and Destruction of Clandestine Laboratories,” carried out in the municipalities of Badiraguato, Culiacán, and Cosalá, the army located new areas where clandestine laboratories and drug production facilities were concentrated.

Among the items found were four buried metal reactors, 3,105 liters of acetone, 5,550 liters of an unknown substance, 850 liters of thinner, 1,100 liters of ethyl alcohol, 350 liters of isopropyl alcohol, and 910 liters of benzyl alcohol. Also seized were 1,050 liters of phosphoric acid, 100 liters of sodium hypochlorite, 185 liters of toluene, 50 liters of methanol, sulfuric acid, and 50 meters of hose. All items found during the operations were turned over to judicial authorities.
