With the addition of five more flights, Mazatlán is strengthening its air connectivity network, as a substantial increase in frequencies is on the way. This is the result of an alliance between the Sinaloa Tourism Secretariat, the airline TAR, and OMA Airports.
On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the Secretary of Tourism for Sinaloa, Mireya Sosa Osuna, led the official presentation and emphasized that the opening of these new routes further consolidates the economic development of the destination.
She added that, in addition to benefiting the tourism sector and giving Mazatlán a presence in key markets, this will facilitate the arrival of more visitors year-round, which is also important for the agribusiness, business, and commercial sectors, generating greater economic development for the port.
“Today, together with TAR Airlines and OMA, we are presenting a significant expansion of the port’s connectivity, including new direct routes. We have daily service between Mazatlán and Aguascalientes, and daily service between Mazatlán and Torreón on Thursdays and Sundays. We are also announcing new express routes with brief stops to Hermosillo and Chihuahua, a fast service that will improve mobility and bring us even closer to the main markets in the Northwest.”
The Secretary of Tourism added that TAR Airlines will increase its operations in Mazatlán with the Mazatlán-La Paz route, which will grow by 50 percent, from 16 to 24 weekly flights. And Mazatlán-Querétaro, which is increasing its flights by 25 percent, going from 8 to 10 weekly frequencies.
She also highlighted that the strengthening of air service is also reflected in the Los Mochis-Mazatlán route and vice versa, with a stopover in La Paz, Baja California, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, which will allow tourists from Europe, the United States, and Canada to reach the destination.
Mireya Sosa added that, with these expansions, TAR Aerolíneas now offers 26 national and international routes to and from Sinaloa, consolidating the state as a key connectivity hub and one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations in the country.
What benefits does TAR Aerolíneas bring to Sinaloa and Mazatlán?
The director of TAR Airlines, Ángel García Collín, announced that, with the new schedule, Sinaloa will have the largest number of seats available in the entire country during December, with a total of 44 weekly flights distributed among the airports of Mazatlán, Los Mochis, and Culiacán.
He also noted that the airline is launching new routes and competitive fares that will boost connectivity in northern Mexico and the Bajío region, particularly highlighting the new connection between Mazatlán and Aguascalientes. He further explained that these routes represent a boost to investment, trade, and regional integration, and that by adding cities like Torreón, Chihuahua, and La Paz, the Sea of Cortez area and the entire Chihuahua region are strengthened.
