The Passenger Train: A Project to Boost Tourism in Sinaloa

It will improve connectivity within the state and promises to position Sinaloa as a more attractive tourist destination.

One of the major projects on the horizon for Sinaloa is the construction of a passenger train, which promises to be a driving force for the region’s tourism and economic development, as announced by the state’s Secretary of Economy, Javier Gaxiola Coppel.

He highlighted the benefits that this project will bring not only to the port of Mazatlán but to the entire state of Sinaloa.

Gaxiola Coppel explained that the passenger train will allow tourists to extend their stay in Mazatlán.

“Making the passenger service a reality will give tourists the opportunity to stay longer in the city. This way, they will have more things to see in Sinaloa and more tourist activities to do. This will make them stay two or three more nights in Mazatlán, which benefits everyone,” he stated.

The secretary emphasized that both foreign and local tourists will benefit from this project, as they will have an easier and more comfortable way to travel throughout the state. It is not just about enjoying the destinations but also making the journey a pleasant experience.

Currently, the project is progressing well. Gaxiola Coppel mentioned that positive comments have already been made at the federal level and that the state governor, along with a group of interested entrepreneurs, are working on it, indicating that this project could become a reality sooner than expected.

This train will not only improve connectivity within the state. It also promises to position Sinaloa as a more attractive tourist destination, benefiting the entire production chain that depends on the tourism and commerce industry in the region.
