Mazatlan beaches wake up with garbage in various areas this Saturday

This Saturday, Mazatlán’s beaches woke up with an accumulation of garbage in several of its busiest areas.

From early on, in places like the Fisherman’s Monument and other areas of the boardwalk, beach workers could be seen collecting and cleaning. The collectors worked at different points throughout the morning, removing a large amount of waste accumulated in the sand and water.

“Well, they tell us to come early to clean so that it doesn’t become more messy, or at least prevent the garbage from spreading to the sea or getting dirtier, if there was a lot of garbage, maybe the rain also had an influence,” said William, a beach area worker.

Among the waste removed, the collectors highlighted a high presence of glass bottles, aluminum cans, chip wrappers and cigarette butts, which are common waste in public areas after events or informal meetings.

“There were a lot of beer cans and glass bottles, food wrappers, potato chip wrappers and cigarette butts. That’s what we collect the most here today. It’s always what we collect the most,” he added.
