More than 405 thousand passengers on board have arrived in Mazatlán on these ships and have generated an economic benefit of more than 28.5 million dollars.

Mazatlán, Sin.- The tourism development that Mazatlán has had in recent years has established this destination as a great recipient of cruise ships, and proof of this are the two that arrived this morning with more than 6,200 passengers and more than 2 1,300 crew members.

Estrella Palacios Domínguez, head of the Ministry of Tourism in the entity, commented that so far this year, 110 cruise ships have arrived in Mazatlán, with more than 405 thousand passengers on board, which have generated an economic benefit of 28.5 million dollars.

Cruise tourism, she added, is one of the segments that generate the greatest income in the various tours they take through the city’s tourist sites; since the descending passenger spends on average between 70 and 100 dollars per person, and the sector is greatly benefited by their presence.

The state government official indicated that the same occurs on tours to towns in the rural area of the municipality, such as El Quelite and La Noria, considering visits to Concordia and Copala, among others, where they enjoy their natural beauties, in addition to the good treatment of the people.

Of the tourist cruise ships that visited the port this Tuesday, the first to enter was the “Koningsdam”, at 6:45 a.m., coming from Cabo San Lucas with 2,646 passengers and 985 crew members, and will depart at 5:00 a.m. in the afternoon heading to Pichilingue, Baja California Sur.

Two hours later the “Discovery Princess” arrived, also coming from Cabo San Lucas with 3,616 passengers and 1,356 crew members; At 6:00 p.m. she will continue her maritime route to Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.

It should be noted that from November 7 to 10, the 29th edition of the Florida and Caribbean Cruise Association Convention was held in Mazatlán, which has generated good expectations regarding future arrivals of vessels from other shipping agencies.
