The Undersecretary of Promotion, Ricardo Velarde Cárdenas, reported that there is already a promotional campaign with the US and Canada so that, in the season that is about to begin, routes to Mazatlán are increased.
MAZATLAN. – The winter season in Mazatlán will begin in October, and the goal is to conquer cities like Chicago, Detroit and Seattle, with the intention of establishing new flight routes, reported the Undersecretary of Promotion in Sinaloa, Ricardo Velarde Cárdenas.
He mentioned that, after the recovery of Category 1 air safety for Mexico, the high season of the foreign community comes with great expectations, especially when an international promotion campaign has already begun to strengthen the market with the United States and Canada.
“Now with the change of category to Category 1 (in air safety), we are very confident that the good results that Mazatlán has had can be achieved with new routes as Chicago, Detroit, Seattle. ” he declared.
The flights with the routes that have already been specified with these two North American countries will begin, said the state official, between the middle of October or the end.
“These are promotions that are already being done. The promotion director went to Houston with the hotel associations, a promotion that has been replicated in Canada and the United States. “We are going to work on connectivity because it is a priority,” he said.
Currently, among the international destinations that begin operations during the winter season are Edmonton in Canada, San Francisco and Los Angeles in the United States; as well as Calgary and Vancouver in Canada. Additionally, destinations such as Dallas, Phoenix and Los Angeles operate year-round.
Last August, the vice president of the Association of Hotels and Tourist Companies of Mazatlán, Carlos Berdegué Sacristán, commented that they were looking to advance flights with some routes from Canada and the United States, especially those with the highest flow, in the hope of start in September instead of October, although this ultimately did not materialize.
