Mazatlán will add a 10-meter-high deer sculpture to its list of monuments, which will become the first monument of its kind in the port, according to the mayor of Mazatlán, Édgar Augusto González Zataráin.

The sculpture will be donated by the businessman and founder of Dportenis, Oscar Sánchez, whose sole objective is to contribute to the culture and tourist attractions of Mazatlán.

Initially, it was planned to place the sculpture in the Glorieta “La Perla”, the one located in Valentinos between the connections of Del Mar Avenue, Camarón Sábalo and Rafael Buelna. However, due to its large size, it will be placed in the well-known roundabout on Carlos Canseco and Atlántico avenues, which has become the main entrance to the city, the mayor informed.

“He will donate a great sculpture for Mazatlán, a deer almost 10 meters high, made of metal and steel. Originally it was intended to be placed in the Valentinos roundabout, but its dimensions are very large, so another roundabout was chosen. The sculptor will come next week. It will be iconic, as it will be the only one of that height in the region.”

The dimensions of the sculpture are 7 meters in length and 10 meters in height. It will be completely made of steel, and it is estimated that it will be ready in 6 months. It is important to mention that the businessman will be responsible for the maintenance and care of the sculpture.

Among the commitments reached, it was agreed to create a sports board in which port businessmen will be able to sponsor certain areas, such as fields and sports parks, to completely remodel them.

González Zataráin pointed out that this will be created so as not to depend solely on the support granted by the state, but that it will serve to have something of its own that contributes to the improvement of the sport.

“It will begin under the scheme of adopting fields and sports areas by the business community; Carlos Berdegué already said that he is in, he told us to write him down. Oscar Sánchez will help us in that part with the businessmen.
