CULIACÁN.- In response to the follow-up and continuity of informing society about the advances in the issue of women’s access to a life without violence, the Attorney General of the State of Sinaloa discloses the following data.
During 2017, 2018 and until July 31, 2019, this institution issued 7,637 protection orders in favor of victims of a crime, as part of the institutional commitment to seek justice for women in Sinaloa.
During the same period, this body with constitutional autonomy has managed to make available to a judge 5,718 people accused of a crime in which the victim is a woman, mostly related to femicide, rape, sexual abuse, family violence, malicious injuries, among others.
In follow-up to the proceedings brought before jurisdictional authorities, the prosecutor of Sinaloa obtained 499 convictions in criminal cases concluded in the first instance in 2017, 2018 and until July 31, 2019.
During the analyzed period, 61 cases of femicide were prosecuted, which statistically represent 58 percent in relation to the incidence recorded during 2017, 2018 and until July 31, 2019, thanks to the work carried out by investigative police officers, units of the Public Ministry and experts.
From the beginning of management as an autonomous Prosecutor’s Office, all and all the people that integrate the institution, we ratify the commitment to comply with the guidelines that in the competence field correspond to the gender alert issued for the State of Sinaloa in 2017.
That is why the Violence Against Women, Family, and Groups in Vulnerability State Unit was created to strengthen the work that had already been done in favor of the investigation of crimes.
The Attorney General of the State of Sinaloa has maintained and maintains the commitment to seek justice for victims of crime in Sinaloa, within a strict adherence to respect for human rights, due process and all the fundamental bases of the accusatory criminal justice system.
