The Music Day Festival fills the Historic Center with various musical genres in Mazatlan

Four stages satisfied the musical appetite of hundreds of Mazatlecos and tourists who enjoyed a night of heat and dancing

Mazatlán, Sin.- The Music Day Festival was born in 2003, but it was suspended twice; like other social gatherings that also suffered from the pandemic and this 2023 returned with everything. Around 7:00 p.m. this Saturday, the party began.

Thousands of people gathered in Plazuela Machado and walked through the streets of the Historic Center and Olas Altas to enjoy yet another edition of the musical festival; there, Raúl Rico González, general director of the Institute of Culture, Tourism and Art of Mazatlán, welcomed the public on the main stage located at the foot of the Machado.

The streets of the Historic Center were filled with people to enjoy music in its most diverse genres. There were five continuous hours on 4 stages installed from Plazuela Machado to Olas Altas, in a “circuit of fun” that amazed the cultural and economic life of the area.

During the noise caused by thousands of people coming and going from one stage to another, and motorists who could not find a place to park, around 250 artists did what they like the best on the four stages.

At La Machado, the Pop Concert group began the musical journey with songs in English and Spanish, ballads, rock, disco music.

Accompanied by his wife, María Teresa Apodaca Muñoz, Mayor Édgar González Zataráin took the stage of Plazuela Machado and gave a simple message in which he stressed that the celebration of Music Day speaks of the importance that his government places on culture.

“Today, on this important day, I am very pleased that this thing that had been suspended is being resumed, today that it is practically 20 years old (this festival) is part of what the CULTURA team and Raúl Rico have been resuming, that is the importance that we from the government give to the culture and traditions that have been formed little by little”.

As part of the event that had the support of the Ministry of Public Safety and Municipal Transit, Public Services, Mayor’s Office and Civil Protection, González Zataráin presented an award to Alfredo Gómez Rubio Lemmen Meyer for his contribution to cultural tourism in our city .

The party continued with the performance of the Ángela Peralta Choir and her singing with a flavor of Spanish zarzuela, under the direction of the teacher Mary Devaki Murillo.

At Machado, the Camerata Mazatlán, under the baton of guest director Sergio Freeman Osuna, put the public to enjoy the soundtracks of “The Legend of Zelda”, “Tetris”, “Pokemón”, “Super Mario Bros”, ” Dragon Ball Z”, “Knights of the Zodiac”, “Naruto” and “90’s Cartoons”, while images of video games and cartoons scrolled across the screen.

Right there, the Chéjere group was in charge of closing with music overflowing with a contagious rhythm that transit through melodies of different musical genres from Latin America and the world.

On the Recuerdo stage, installed outside the Museum of Art, more than a thousand people of all ages enjoyed the musical offer of Los Cryps, Sarah Holcombe and Cuarteto Hermanos Osuna, Las Chelas Disco Live Show and Heidi Herrera, which aroused the cry of women.

On the Olas Altas stage, located between Constitución and Mariano Escobedo streets, the avenue became a mega dance floor facing the sea.

Locals and tourists did not stop dancing to the rhythm of the Percussion Ensemble of the Municipal Center for the Arts, Banda La Maz Caliente, and Maz Candela Musical Show.

The Rock & Fusion stage brought together a diverse and expectant audience to enjoy the cast in Liverpool Alley. Families, couples and loners danced, shouted, sang, smiled and encouraged themselves to socialize creating new friendships.

Go Elektra, LSDLBO, Vitamina E, La Bande-Son Imaginaire and DJ PapiPérez put together a splendid night for Rock and Fusion to create a sensational experience that many would like to repeat in the incomparable Mazatlán.
