Ismael Zambada Imperial, son of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, the alleged head of the Sinaloa Cartel, pleaded not guilty to the charges he was tried on December 20 in a court in the southern district of California, San Diego.
This, according to what was revealed on Monday by the CNN television station, according to which, based on court documents to which he said he had access, Zambada Imperial was notified last Friday in said court of drug trafficking charges against him.
Son of one of the most wanted criminals in the United States and Mexico, for his role within the Sinaloa Cartel, which was directed by drug trafficker Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, in northern Mexico, Imperial Zambada is accused of conspiring to import and distribute in the United States methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, and marijuana.
This was stated by CNN, which stated in its report that the alleged transgressor of US law, also known as “Mayito Gordo,” pleaded not guilty to all charges against him, without preventing him from being held at least until on February 7, 2020, the date for which your next hearing is scheduled.
Zambada Imperial was arrested by members of the Mexican Navy in an operation in Culiacán, Sinaloa, in 2014. Accused of drug trafficking, he was jailed in Mexico until last week, when he was transferred to the United States.
Neither CNN nor any other means have been able to confirm whether the transfer was due to extradition since there have been no official pronouncements from the judicial authorities of either of the two countries involved.
