Mazatlán, Sin.- In the last month, Ecotaxis Verdes drivers have been victims of assaults and dispossession of unity in Mazatlán.
Four robberies have been registered, three of them committed by the same person and in the last robbery he attacked the operator with a knife, leaving an eight-centimeter wound on his neck, for which emergency surgery was necessary.
Alfredo Noriega López, transporter leader of Taxis Verdes, pointed out that the assailant moves between Alarcón, Valles del Ejido and El Venadillo, he approaches the units and takes belongings, and income from the drivers, threatening them with a razor or knife.
Among the characteristics or signs that they have been able to identify is that he is around 45 years old and wears a goatee.
For his part, the Secretary of Public Security, Jaime Otoniel Barrón Valdés, assured that there is coordination with the transport union, giving them the pertinent and adequate attention at all times.
“We already have some identification data, so we are going to provide the data that we have to the Prosecutor’s Office, which in the end is the investigative authority,” he assured.
Although one of the carriers’ proposals was to implement the checkpoints, Barrón Valdés pointed out that it will have to be studied if it is really viable.
“The checkpoints is an activity that has to be studied in more depth, if it is really viable or there are other options to not have the observation point, such as a panic button or WhatsApp groups,” he pointed out.
In these groups, he added, there is direct contact with the carriers and when a suspicious person gets on or they consider that there is some fear, they let the authority know so that they can come immediately.
