A large quantity of contaminated eggs were smuggled into southern Sinaloa, coming from the states of Nayarit, Durango and Sonora, denounced José Antonio Lizárraga Rivera.

The president of the Local Livestock Association of Mazatlán explained that it was in the municipalities of Mazatlán, Concordia and Escuinapa where the contaminated product was detected and that thanks to the work of the authorities, they stopped the eggs that was smuggled from those states in time.

“The recommendation is that they consume the egg from here, which is being produced in the state, so that we do not have the problem of the contaminated egg that is coming in from Nayarit, Durango, and Sonora. We were surrounded by the three states, it was something very serious, very worrying, but thank God that stopped,” he said.

The contaminated egg is due to the supposed contamination by the bird flu virus that comes from other states and reaches the municipalities in the south of the state of Sinaloa.

Inspection and surveillance

Lizárraga Rivera pointed out that the product reached some shops, but that it has already been withdrawn. In addition, he warned that businesses that are caught selling said egg will be penalized.

Meanwhile, the State Commission for the Prevention of Sanitary Risks (COEPRISS) clarified that despite the operation carried out in Sinaloa, no sanctions have been registered nor is there a health alert for avian flu, since no anomalies have been located.
