The First International Tianguis of the Magical Towns of Mexico will be a hybrid event, that is, it will take place in person and virtually. During three days of exhibition, the 132 Magical Towns will show their culture, tradition, gastronomy, and crafts. This event is a great commitment by the Government of Mexico for the international projection of some destinations that aspire to be the new tourist face of the country. And it is that the Magical Towns are perfect enclaves for those tourists who are looking for inland options as an alternative to the well-known sun and beach destinations.

The event will take place from April 22 to 24, in an area of 4,600 m2 at the Barcelona International Convention Center (CCIB – Plaça de Willy Brandt, 11-14), with a large space for the sale of handicrafts and gastronomic samples, among other attractions. Access will be free, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Intense culinary, cultural, and business agenda

One of the pavilions that is intuited will be more lively will be the gastronomy one. Led by the renowned chef Rita Sánchez, during the three days of this great exhibition, dishes prepared following the recipes of cooks from different Magical Towns of the country will be served. In addition, some of these cooks will be present at the event to explain the secrets of their careful culinary preparations.  The design of this Tianguis, a word from a pre-Hispanic language (from the Nahuatl tiyānquiztli) that means market, a place of exchange and coexistence, also includes a large auditorium with a stage that will host performances by mariachis, traditional folklore, awards ceremony and interesting conferences.

As for business meetings, the event will have a hybrid character, since, in addition to face-to-face meetings between registered buyers (from more than 30 countries) and exhibitors, virtual meetings will be promoted through MatchMkr, a digital platform 24/7 business center that facilitates networking between actors in the tourism industry, through a state-of-the-art algorithm that allows finding profiles of interest among registered service providers. In this way, this Tianguis wants to contribute to the democratization of communication in the tourism sector, facilitating the same opportunities and access to the promotion of business at an international level.
