Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- Mazatlán has added one more to its list of sister cities, it is Ecatepec De Morelos, State of Mexico.

Mazatlan, through twinning with other cities in Mexico and the world, makes a social as well as a cultural approach with them. For these reasons we find streets, ambulances, fire trucks donated by some of them and presence in the carnival of retinues of queens where it can be seen that they carry a band with the name of these cities.

The strengthening of ties with this place was approved during the ordinary session of council number 8 this Thursday at the Mazatlan City Hall, with the aim of maintaining the tourist, economic and cultural exchange with said city.

Each of the twinning agreements can change but the most common are the strengthening of tourism, scholarship educational programs, commercial exchanges, support in social and health programs.

In the park of the sister cities, a park located on Paseo Claussen, there are some obelisks that show the name of each of them.

In that same point of the agenda, the Committee of Sister Cities was established, chaired by the Mayor, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, made up of municipal officials, councilors, as well as the representation of chamber organizations, such as CANIRAC, Canacintra, Canaco, the Tres Islas Hotel Association, CODESIN, and Tiempos Compartidos.
