For the secretary of Economic Development, Tourism and Fisheries of Mazatlán, this is due to the coordination between the government and businessmen in the management of protocols and capacity, as well as citizen awareness in the face of each wave.
MAZATLAN. – The fourth wave of infections by Covid-19 does not stop, however, Mazatlán is the second beach destination with fewer active cases, well below other beach destinations that already exceed even up to 4 thousand cases, as reported by the Secretary of Economic Development, Tourism and Fisheries of Mazatlán, Ricardo Velarde Cárdenas.
He stated that the “Pearl of the Pacific” is only below Acapulco, Guerrero, which reported, until yesterday, January 11, 583 active cases, that is, 109 cases less than the port, which reported 692 active cases. .
Of the total number of active cases in Guerrero, Acapulco represents 39 percent of the infections, since the state registered with the Federal Government, 1,480 active cases; In the case of Sinaloa, with 4,296 cases, Mazatlán represents 16 percent of the cases.
“There is a lot of coordination with the sectors, there is a lot of responsibility of the businessmen, I believe that, as never before, this administration has been in dialogue, in decision-making with the different actors, it is a shared responsibility”, declared the municipal official.
Velarde Cárdenas pointed out that, although the destination is placed in the second place of beach destinations with fewer infections, it does not mean that the situation will relax, especially when the epidemiological traffic light will keep them in yellow until January 23, so attempt.
He added that, even with a restricted capacity, the restaurants remain at an approximate 35 percent, precisely because the diner has decided to go out less, order at home, or simply take care of themselves more, as the traffic light changes.
“Mazatlán has been a case of success in the face of this pandemic, the tourism sectors with which we have dialogue, at the national level speak of 30 to 40 percent of business closings, however, in Mazatlán, we have had 30 or 40 percent of openings and if we make a comparison of cases and deaths with the other ports, we are half down, “he remarked.
The beach destination that reported the most cases is La Paz, Baja California Sur with 4,942 cases, out of 7,594 in the entire state; Cancun, Quintana Roo follows with 3 thousand 452 cases, out of a total of 5 thousand 199 cases in the state; Cao San Lucas, also from Baja California Sur, reported 1,409 cases; Ensenada, Baja California, has 1,144 cases; Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, reported 911 cases and Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, reported 876 cases.
