The certification of the beaches will guarantee the health of users, improve environmental quality and raise the levels of competitiveness of this important national and international tourist destination, such as Mazatlán.
The Sustainable Development Secretariat and the Beach Operator and Administrator signed a collaboration agreement for the certification of three new stretches as Sustainable Clean Beach under SEMARNAT standard 120, which will place the Mazatlan in first place with seven badges.
Isabel Mendoza Camacho, head of the SEDESU acknowledged the willingness of authorities, employers, and service providers for certification of the beaches of the hotels, which will ensure the health of users, improve the environmental quality of the beach and raise levels of competitiveness of this important national and international tourist destination.
“Sinaloa is positioned as the national leader in certified beaches with eleven certified beaches in the State. Today we are very happy to be able to sign this collaboration agreement with the Operadora de Playas and the Ecology Department of the Municipality of Mazatlán, which will put Mazatlán with 7 certified beaches as the number municipality nationwide to work with these schemes of quality and environmental management ”, he specified.
Roberto Terrones, director of Operadora y Administradora de Playas de Mazatlán thanked the secretary for the support for the certification of the beaches and the team achieved with Sedesu to meet the goals.
It should be noted that currently in Sinaloa the Luna Bonita, Estrella Del Mar, Gaviotas and Verde Camacho beaches are certified in Mazatlán; Las Águilas, in Navolato; Ceuta, in Elota; and Costa Azul, in Angostura. While they are in the process of obtaining the distinctive other sections in Mazatlán, and Las Glorias in Guasave.
