Every two and a half hours a Yucatecan dies from Coronavirus

An average of 10 deaths per day are recorded in Yucatan, in a nine-month pandemic.

Nine months after the first case of Covid-19 was confirmed in Yucatan, 2,800 deaths have been reported in this period.

This means that on average for each of the 276 days since the pandemic officially touched Yucatan, 90 cases and 10 deaths per day have been registered.

If these 10 deaths are divided between 24 hours a day, every two and a half hours there is a death from this virus in the State, a strong figure.

In Yucatan, the official count began on March 23, with an imported case that did not enter the Yucatan statistics was confirmed, since it was a woman who was returning from Canada where she took the test and resulted positive. She also has been the patient who has been hospitalized the longest (44 days), discharged on May 7.

It should be noted that a large number of deaths is related to patients with comorbidities such as high blood pressure, immunodeficiency, diabetes, and even obesity.

Ycatán is about to reach 25,000 coronavirus cases with the 57 new cases reported yesterday by the state Health Secretariat.

In the report of the Ministry of Health of Yucatán (SSY), seven deceased people were also reported, for a total of 2,787 in the State.

Of the total cases that have been reported, 21,394 are people who have already recovered, who do not have symptoms or can infect, a figure that represents 85 percent of total infections.

Of the active cases, 650 are stable, isolated, constantly monitored by SSY medical personnel; have mild symptoms. Also, 149 of the positive cases are in public hospitals in total isolation. There are other patients awaiting diagnosis.

The age range of the cases is from one month to 99 years.
