International Cervantino Barroco Festival Announced in San Cristóbal de Las Casas

On Facebook and other platforms, the International Cervantino Barroco Festival was announced in San Cristóbal de Las Casas. In this activity, Victoria Cecilia Flores Pérez, general director of the State Council for Cultures and the Arts (Coneculta-Chiapas), highlighted the mission of disseminating the best of the national artistic offer even under the current context of confinement and recognized the institutional commitment of the Secretary of Culture and the International Cervantino Festival, with the government and the people of Chiapas.

The municipal president of San Cristóbal de Las Casas, thanked the local artistic talent for joining this celebration of universal art and culture, which will offer 34 events with the participation of local and national artists.

He also highlighted the coordinated work between the three levels of government to strengthen this project which, due to the health emergency caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, will have to be carried out online.

“The International Cervantino Barroco Festival will be broadcast live through the Chiapaneco Radio-Television and Cinematography System, the social networks of Coneculta and the San Cristóbal de Las Casas City Council, and will have as headquarters the Hermanos Domínguez City Theater and the Teatro Daniel Zebadúa ”, this is how Coneculta-Chiapas announces it.

The director of the cultural institution added that the pandemic experienced on a global scale opened new opportunities to explore formats adapted to our reality, not only to transfer cultural expressions to the screen, but to adjust digital resources to the needs of artistic expressions and its creators.
