MÉRIDA, Yucatan.- This afternoon the first Walmart Distribution Center (Cedis) was inaugurated in the southeast, an installation in which 1,140 million pesos was invested, and that represents the creation of 2,175 jobs, between direct and indirect, for the Yucatecans.
Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal attended the opening, who took a tour of the facilities, and verified the operation of this new distribution point of the firm.
From its location in the municipality of Kanasín, the Cedis will supply merchandise to more than 90 business formats of the company, such as Bodega Aurrera, Walmart, Superama, and Sam’s Club, as well as for eCommerce orders in Yucatán, Campeche, and Quintana Roo.
People from Mérida, Kanasín, Hoctún, Acanceh, Seyé Umán and Tixpéual work at the Cedis.
For his part, Sandro Norberto Do Nascimento, Vice President of Logistics at Walmart de México y Centroamérica, pointed out that this new Cedis is essential to continue with the purpose of transporting merchandise more quickly and contributing to the mission of improving the quality of life of Yucatecan and Mexican families.
After the formal ceremony, Vila Dosal gave the starting signal for the first trucks loaded with products that will be distributed in the stores of the supermarket chain.
Cedis will bring products to Walmart stores
It should be noted that this Cedis is one of the 3 inaugurated by the company in 2020 as part of its objective of bringing products to the 2,580 stores it has in the country.
During its construction, more than 800 jobs were generated. As of today, Walmart de México y Centroamérica has 19 Distribution Centers in Mexico.
The industrial warehouse covers approximately 200 thousand square meters.
