Aguascalientes’ Wine Route starts Sep. 3

Aguascalientes, Mexico (August 26, 2020).- All is ready for the inauguration of the Wine Route in Aguascalientes, an important tourist event that will finally reactivate the state’s economy after the ravages caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. 

The State Secretary of Tourism, Humberto Montero de Alba, explained that from September 3 to 6, there will be more than 300 activities, including guided tours, wine and cheese tastings, as well as sports and gastronomic events.

The official explained that the Wine Route will contribute to recover the more than 10.4 billion pesos that have been lost locally in the sector as a result of the pandemic. 

The event includes 16 points in general, between vineyards, ex-haciendas, and cheese factories, mainly. The costs of the activities vary, but the prices are affordable. Montero de Alba exhorted people to take advantage of the Wine Route and visit Aguascalientes, by indicating that all venues will be complying with strict health protocols to avoid any type of risks.

Aguascalientes is located 700 kilometers (435 miles) southeast of Mazatlan (INEGI)

It is worth mentioning that after the festivity, the Wine Route will be taking place in Aguascalientes every weekend for the remainder of the year, thus expecting an economic spill of more than 26 million pesos and an attendance of more than 31,000. people.

“With this project, we are rescuing a tradition in Aguascalientes, we are also diversifying the tourist offer in the state as well as contributing to the reactivation of the economy”, Montero de Alba concluded.
