Acapulco now prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages

Acapulco, Guerrero, May 11, 2020.- Given the number of people who continue to go to public spaces despite the health emergency caused by Covid-19, the Acapulco City Council defined today the prohibition of the sale of alcoholic beverages.

The director of Regulations and Shows of the municipality, Julián Nicio López informed that no self-service or miscellaneous stores will be able to sell intoxicating drinks.

As from this Monday, the surveillance operations will be reinforced, since the municipality and state level are experiencing the most critical phase of infections by Covid-19.

“This determination was made, we will visit the self-service stores, commercial stores and the miscellaneous to cordon off the intoxicating drinks area,” said the municipal official.

Nicio López warned that fines will be applied to establishments that ignore the official provision, which could range from 20 thousand pesos to the closing of the business, which will be able to operate again until the health emergency ends.

It should be noted that the municipality of Acapulco occupies the first place of Covid-19 infections at the state level; the figures of the federal Ministry of Health report that the port registers more than 280 positive cases.
