Luis Guillermo Benitez Torres said that in the midst of the worldwide health emergency caused by the Covid-19 coronavirus, his government has not stopped public works, on the contrary, it is advancing because it is necessary to keep the local economy active.
“We continue with public works, because if 25 thousand people fell into unemployment just like this; if the public and private work had been completed, it would have increased to at least 40,000, 45,000 unemployed people, ”he explained during an official session.
He stressed that thanks to the federal decree made by the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the cement companies will not stop their activity, and the monitoring of public and private works in the port is promoted.
“What we are doing is advancing the procedures, and using the economic resources we have, to keep public work ongoing”, the mayor concluded.
