Many of us are wondering: “Well, we are in phase two already, and soon we will be in phase 3, but what does Phase 3 mean?

Phase three is the moment when the most drastic sanitary protocol such as generalized quarantine is launched.

On Tuesday, March 24, Phase 2 of the coronavirus was decreed in Mexico, but many people ask what Phase 3 or scenario 3 refers to and when the government will enact it?

Phase 3 or Scenario 3 is characterized as an epidemic, in this scenario there are regional outbreaks and national spread of the disease. The cases will be estimated in thousands, although most of them will be with mild symptoms, about 12 percent with severe symptoms and 6 percent or less of the cases will be very severe.

When scenario 3 is applied in a country or locality, it is specified, as in Phase 2

Do not greet each other with a kiss or a hug

Events will be suspended in closed public spaces such as cinemas, stadiums, etc. (This has also already been applied in various locations in Mexico).

Public events in open spaces such as beaches, shopping malls, parks and others will be suspended too.

Classes will also be suspended at all levels (something that also already applies in various cities and municipalities in Mexico).

Finally, any type of activity in work centers that present an active outbreak will be suspended.

A generalized quarantine is carried out.

During the epidemiological stage 3 or phase 3, the virus will affect thousands of people in various locations. It is the moment when the most drastic sanitary protocol such as generalized quarantine will have to be launched.
