Compared to 2018, the figure increased by 10 percent, according to Pérez Barros
Mazatlan Sinaloa.- Over 4 million tourists were received in Sinaloa during 2019, according to the Secretary of State Tourism, Óscar Pérez Barros.
* The Secretary of Tourism affirms that we are well
* Mazatlan and Topolobampo, cruise ship favorites
The US Department updated the travel alert for Mexico, where it asks not to travel to Colima, Guerrero, Michoacán, Sinaloa, and Tamaulipas due to the high levels of violence recorded in those states.
The Alert for Sinaloa is level 4, which tells foreigners not to visit the port.
Oscar Pérez Barros, Secretary of Tourism in Sinaloa, said the state is well in tourism and highlighted the fact that cruise ships continue to arrive.
“The destination of Mazatlan for the cruise ship is the best, yesterday the largest and most important cruise ship in the world has just arrived, the department puts us in warning but we remain the same, we did not stay at the same level, despite what happened in Culiacán We keep moving forward, ”he said.
The Secretary informed that Mazatlan and Topolobampo continue to remain the first tourist destinations in Sinaloa,
“Our two main beach destinations for cruises: Topolobampo and Mazatlan are still the favorites of cruise ships, so you have to keep doing things right, work hand in hand with the US consulate, he said
The state official announced that the number of tourists in Sinaloa increased 10 percent compared to last year.
This is due to different programs and activities that were implemented during 2019.
State Tourism Development Plan
Pérez Barros said that in the State Tourism Development Plan, the main objective is to pass each year over the 4 million tourists who arrive in the state.
Previous periods, this figure had not been exceeded, however, this year will be achieved.
This increase may also be linked to the increase in cruise arrivals, public and private investments in the state, he stated.
Traveling Puro Sinaloa
Regarding the program of Traveling Puro Sinaloa, the secretary said that approximately 3 million pesos of economic spill have been generated in the state.
We are doing very well, we carry more than 3 million pesos of economic spill.
He added that this weekend will exceed 70 trips made in Sinaloa.
He noted that although that was a program that was planned to be temporary, it will remain a permanent project.
The truth is a program that the Sinaloans adopted and have made it their own, they tell me ‘please, secretary, tell the governor not to remove it’.
He said he stayed during December because it increases the number of foreign visitors who are interested in participating in the project.
Many people come from outside, from Los Angeles, New York, who come with their families and who are enjoying this program.
The governor of Sinaloa, Quirino Ordaz Coppel, announced that the program will stay, however, it will reinvent itself because more places and more activities have to be contemplated.
Other reasons why tourism continues to come is due to the treatment that is provided in the state, so far more than 130 courses have been taught for almost 5 thousand service providers.
Presence of tourism in Mazatlan beaches does not cease
The Aquatic Squadron commander said the actions were extended to obtain a positive safe December outcome.
Mazatlan Safe beaches, protected by a total of 30 lifeguards and marked with flags depending on the alert that predominates in their areas, are part of the actions contemplated by the Aquatic Rescue Squad since the Operation Guadalupe-Reyes that extends until the first days of January, Gonzalo Magallanes Romero reported.
The Commander of the Aquatic Squad said that the strip of beaches has a constant tourist influx on weekends thanks to the arrival of cruise ships, added by travelers from Canada and the United States who take refuge on the cold shores of their places of origin, the director of the Lifeguards stressed that despite the high number of visitors there have been injuries in the last two weeks
“In terms of rescue we have been very calm, we are betting on prevention, we have two weeks that we do not rescue because we are on people, we have the operation implemented from the day it started.”
Magallanes Romero said that the water temperature has not changed so drastically with the drop in temperature, he also added that the services that have been reported and provided by their lifeguards are due to stingrays and jellyfish stings, falls of some beach vehicles mishaps no life-threating issues.
