Mexico’s criminal organizations break into smaller groups driving up the death toll

In its monthly evaluation of all active conflicts in the world, International Crisis Group, an organism specialized in conflict management, warns about the worsening of the situation in Mexico.

The think tank based in Brussels asserts that the political and safety situation in the country registered a “significant deterioration” during August, compared to the previous month.

The rest of the list of entities with negative evolutions during the last months includes countries such as Burundi, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, and Yemen; the last two are witness to vicious attacks between separatists and state forces.

It is the first time, since the arrival of Andrés Manuel López Obrador to National Palace, that experts in charge of monitoring the situation of 70 conflicts and vulnerable countries put Mexico in the blacklist of countries in a spiral of deterioration.
