The President says that the agenda “is not dictated from abroad but has to do with our needs”

Faced with the “nostalgic” neoliberalism that places the economy at the center of their actions, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that the main objective of his government is to eradicate corruption.

At a press conference where he was accompanied by Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon, who reported the details of his meeting that he had last night with the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, the federal executive justified the nostalgia of the neo-liberals.

“The nostalgic of neoliberalism continue to insist on the economy” (as the center of their actions), he said, stating that this is due to the 36 years of the predominance of the so-called neo-liberal policy or application of the neoliberal model.

This is, in more than three decades, he said, “the economy rose to rank and the political, social and cultural were subordinated.”

Currently, the federal president added, “our agenda is not dictated from abroad but has to do with our needs; it has as its first point to end corruption because it is the main problem in Mexico

In the press conference held at the National Palace, he was also accompanied by the head of the Federal Consumer Office (Profeco), Ricardo Sheffield Padilla.
