Hoteliers will go after international tourism

In 5 years half of the visitors of La Paz will be foreigners

In a period of approximately 5 years, La Paz will have to modify the conformation of its visitors, going from 85% of national origin and 15 international, which currently registers, to 50% between these two segments, according to the President of the Association of Hotel and Tourism Companies, Agustín Olachea Nogueda.

He clarified that the tourism that comes to this destination from the interior of the country, is very good purchasing power, including the triple-A, which comes to vacation in yachts and megayachts, and the rest also of good economic level, which has to travel by plane, paying transportation expenses that would not be available in case of vacationing in other places.

He explained that the hotel offer in La Paz has alternatives for all strata, from rates of 900 pesos to over 4,000, although in the latter case, they are the least.

He recalled that currently in this city are being built or are in the project phase, 600 rooms in 5 5-star hotels, against the approximately one thousand 100 keys that are currently.

The great opportunity for La Paz is to conquer and attract the international market, not to replicate the scheme of Los Cabos, where 85% are foreign visitors, and only 15% national, but to achieve at least a balance between these two segments, he added.

He recalled that the national visitor is more supportive of the destinations because he travels, even in difficult times, in addition to not requiring a visa or passport, and leaves his money in his own country.

Finally, Olachea Nogueda said that with the construction of these 5 hotels, the occupancy levels and the average rates of La Paz will have to be radically changed, because they are 5-star hotels, with rates above 4 thousand pesos per night
