Mexico shines at the world’s largest chocolate award

Mexico won 19 of the 85 prizes available in all categories of the second edition of the Central American regional competition of the International Chocolate Awards, which took place from December 1 to 5 in Guatemala City.

It was the Mexican brand Feliu Chocolate that won the highest recognition with a gold medal in the category “Dark chocolate bars”. It is the only Mexican product to receive recognition of this rank.

Wolter, meanwhile, was the Mexican chocolate brand that received the most prizes when hoarding eight of 19 possible, all of silver and in four different categories. It was in the section of “Dark chocolate bars” in which he received three medals for his bars Quetzalli Uranga, Quetzalli 85% and Quetzalli Wolter.

Other brands that received awards were XKIK ‘Chocolate of Origin, Le Caméléon, The Bastion and Kakaw Museum, which were awarded with seven bronze medals.

The category in which Mexican chocolate stood out the most was “Micro-lote Barras de chocolate oscuro”, in which it won six out of nine possible prizes.

It should be noted that at the international award in 2018 the Mexican brands TA.CHO Taller de Chocolate and Wolter won five gold medals, while Que Bo! , the renowned chocolate chef of Mexican chef José Ramón Castillo, won a silver and a bronze award in two different categories.
