MEXICO CITY.- Netflix, the most successful streaming platform of the moment, announced the planning of 50 new productions in Mexico, as well as the opening of an office located in Mexico City.
The approach of Netflix with Mexico had been done for several years with the first series in Spanish produced in our country: Club de Cuervos, since then the relationship has been closer, with projects such as the successful “Rome”.
The main reason for Netflix to have an office in Mexico City is to maintain a direct approach with the productions that are planned in the future in our country, according to Ted Sarandos, executive director of Netflix content.
ome of the projects will include the participation of Gael García Bernal as a producer and Marcos Bucay, creator of Club de Cuervos.
Currently, Mexico is one of the markets with more participation in streaimngs worldwide. More than 70 percent of Mexicans who have Internet access have a Netflix account.
Among the planned projects, there are films, series and documentaries made with production by and for Mexico.
