Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- Hoteleros Mazatlan call themselves concerned about the lack of federal resources to continue the promotion of the destination campaigns in the national and international market.

The Director of Flights and Marketing of the Association of Hotels and Tourism Companies of Mazatlan, Gilberto Avilés, commented that fortunately, they have the state resources of the 3% lodging tax, in addition to the tie of the commercial partners.

He pointed out that it is an issue that is in the air, fortunately, you have the resources of the 3% tax to continue with the campaigns and the most important thing is the mood for the destination, where the airlines, wholesalers, charters are willing to continue contributing to support the destination.

He explained that Mazatlan invests 110 million pesos a year in advertising and marketing, very little compared to the 400 million pesos a year that Cabo or Puerto Vallarta invests.

He explained that of the 110 million pesos put into Mazatlan, 65 million pesos were from the lodging tax and the rest were put by business partners, and 25% more was tied by the Tourism Promotion Council of Mexico.

We only put 20% of what is invested in these destinations that are our competitors on the corner and you talk about Cancun are 900 million per year which invests in the promotion. Gilberto Avilés.
