A violent robbery was reported on the Durango-Mazatlán free highway, where a man was robbed of his late-model pickup truck at gunpoint by individuals operating in the area.
The robbery occurred near kilometer 86, past the Llano Grande settlement, when the victim was traveling toward El Salto, in the municipality of Pueblo Nuevo.
According to the authorities’ report, the victim was identified as Saúl Arreola López, who stated that the incident occurred last Sunday at approximately 12:40 p.m.
At that time, he was traveling in a silver 2025 Toyota Tacoma when he was suddenly intercepted by the occupants of a white Ford Ranger Raptor without license plates.
According to the driver’s testimony, one of the occupants of the attacking vehicle got out carrying a firearm and approached him directly. Under threats of being harmed, he ordered him to get out of the vehicle. Fearing for his life or that he might suffer a physical assault, the victim decided to comply with the instructions.
Once the alleged criminal gained control of the Tacoma, he got into the vehicle and fled at high speed toward El Salto, while the other vehicle involved also left the scene, leaving the victim stranded on the side of the highway.
After the incident, Saúl managed to return to his home in the city of Durango to file the corresponding report with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGED).
Search and surveillance operation
After receiving the formal report, investigative authorities opened a case file to establish the identity of those responsible, as well as to locate the stolen pickup truck and the Ford Ranger Raptor used in the robbery.
At the same time, security agencies from the three levels of government—including members of the National Guard, State Police, and Investigative Police—reinforced patrols and surveillance operations along this section of the highway, with the aim of locating the vehicles involved and safeguarding the well-being of people traveling along this important roadway.
