From the early hours of the morning, Mazatlán awoke to a different atmosphere. Bicycles ready to ride, families gathered, groups of friends, and more than 1,350 cyclists, belonging to 32 cycling clubs, began to congregate for the “Towns and Landscapes: Mazatlán 2026” Ride, a day that transformed the port city into a grand celebration of sport and community.

Organized jointly by the Ministry of Welfare and Sustainable Development (SEBIDES), the Ministry of Tourism, and the Mazatlán City Council, the event brought together people of all ages for an experience that combined exercise, recreation, and the enjoyment of the destination’s most iconic landscapes.

Before the ride began, state and municipal authorities welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of continuing to promote activities that strengthen social cohesion, boost tourism, and generate benefits for rural communities.

The mayor of Mazatlán, Estrella Palacios, stated:

“Mazatlán and its surrounding towns are safe, welcoming, and have so much to discover. Today, hundreds of you, my fellow cyclists, were able to experience this firsthand, and each of you carries a great responsibility. Do you know what it is? To be ambassadors for Mazatlán and its rural areas.”

For her part, the Secretary of Tourism, Mireya Sosa, noted:

“And that motivates us to continue working, to continue promoting these kinds of events that generate tourism in our beautiful historic towns like La Noria, which boasts gastronomy, history, and culture.”

Finally, the Secretary of Welfare and Sustainable Development, Architect Omar López Campos, celebrated the great public response and the participation of the cycling community in this first organized ride in the port city.

“I’m very pleased with the great response from the public and the cycling community to this first ride organized by SEBIDES, the Tourism Department, and the Mazatlán City Council. Seeing so many families and clubs participating confirms that these events unite people, generate well-being, and strengthen community spirit.”

With the starting signal, the streets filled with movement, enthusiasm, and color. Children, teenagers, and adults rode together in a safe and family-friendly environment, while the route showcased the natural and urban beauty of Mazatlán, solidifying the port city as an ideal place for sports and social interaction.

The finish line was in the community of La Noria, where the participants were welcomed in a warm and celebratory atmosphere. Simultaneously, the Taco and Tostada Fair took place, enriching the experience with regional cuisine and promoting local traditions. At the same location, a Trek Marlin bicycle, sports kits, helmets, and tools were raffled off, generating moments of excitement, applause, and joy among the families in attendance.

Those who participated in the bike ride acknowledged the event’s organization and the operation implemented to provide safety, assistance, and support throughout the entire route.

With events like this, the State Government reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting actions that strengthen health, sustainable tourism, citizen participation, and the overall well-being of Sinaloa families.
