On the morning of April 9, 2026, a violent armed attack in Culiacán left five members of the same family injured. The incident occurred inside a home in the Lombardo Toledano neighborhood, further exacerbating the security crisis in the region.

According to official reports, the victims of this attack included two girls, a minor, an adult man, and an elderly woman. They were all resting at home when they were surprised by gunfire.

The attack took place around 6:00 a.m. According to information gathered by law enforcement, a group of armed men arrived at the house and knocked on the front door. When they received no response from the residents, the assailants forced their way in.

The criminals opened one of the house’s windows and fired directly into the master bedroom. At the time, the family was asleep, leaving them extremely vulnerable to the barrage of gunfire.

At the crime scene, prosecutors counted more than 60 spent shell casings from an AK-47 assault rifle, a weapon popularly known as a “cuerno de chivo” (goat’s horn). The intensity of the shooting caused severe damage to the room’s structure.

High-caliber bullets pierced the walls and windows of the room, hitting the occupants who, in a panic, tried unsuccessfully to take cover. Despite the brutality of the attack, medical reports indicate that the injuries are not considered serious.

Health authorities confirmed that the five victims sustained minor gunshot wounds and grazes. The elderly woman, in particular, required medical attention after being hit by shrapnel in her hand, but she is stable and out of danger.
