Mazatlan is preparing to celebrate the 128th edition of its International Carnival, which will take place from February 12 to 17, which is expected to attract 1.2 million attendees and an estimated economic spill of 1,100 million pesos, reported the Sinaloa Tourism Secretariat.
During the weekly conference headed by Governor Rubén Rocha, the state Secretary of Tourism, Mireya Sosa Osuna, explained that the arrival of 92 thousand tourists and an average hotel occupancy of 87 percent is expected during the six days of festivities.
The expectation is very positive, we currently have 84 percent occupancy in books and, as the date approaches, it usually increases up to five points per day,” explained Mireya Sosa.
The Mazatlan International Carnival 2026, under the slogan ¡Arriba la Tambora!, will feature an artistic cast of international stature. Among the shows are the presentation of Edén Muñoz at the coronation of the King of Joy; the tribute to Germán Lizárraga for his 75 years of career during the coronation of the Queen of the Floral Games; as well as Yuridia’s concert at the coronation of the Queen of Carnival.
