Mazatlan hoteliers expect 90 percent occupancy during Carnival

88 percent of tourists arrive at the destination by road, and 12 percent by air

Mazatlan, Sin. – Five days before the start of the Mazatlan International Carnival 2026 “Arriba la Tambora”, Mazatlan hotels register reservation levels of 80 percent.

The president of the Tres Islas Hotel AssociationJosé Ramón Manguart Sánchez, said that the influx of visitors who arrive without reservations could increase hotel occupancy between two and four percentage points, with which the destination would have the possibility of reaching up to 90 percent.

He detailed some of the destinations where they visit Mazatlan the most for the maximum party of the Mazatlan International Carnival; they are from ChihuahuaMonterreyTijuanaCDMXBajíoCoahuilaDurango , and Sinaloa.

He commented that 88 percent of tourists are expected to arrive at the destination by road, leaving 12 percent by air.

“You have to remember that the days of carnival outside the city are not a holiday, so coming by road makes it easier for tourists to quickly arrive, enjoy, and return to their places of origin,” he said.

Manguart Sánchez pointed out that, in terms of security, he assured that there will be special operations on highways again, which provides greater certainty to those who visit the port.

He stressed that promotion strategies are maintained in different cities of the country, since activations were recently carried out in Torreón and Durango, while the Ministry of Tourism visited Guadalajara and Chihuahua, with the aim of strengthening the confidence of visitors.

In this context, he explained that the promotional caravans allow updating the destination’s offer, disseminating details of the carnival, and strengthening ties with travel agents and the general public.

The hotel leader pointed out.

Finally, he stressed that a good performance during the carnival boosts the following vacation seasons, strengthening the tourist activity of the port.
