Sinaloa solidified its position as one of the most economically dynamic states in the country, registering 2.8% growth during the first half of 2025, compared to the national average of 0.4%, according to the INEGI’s Quarterly Indicator of State Economic Activity (ITAEE). With this performance, the state ranked fifth nationally.
The Secretary of Economy, Feliciano Castro Meléndrez, emphasized that these results reflect the joint effort of society and government to strengthen the local economy.
“This growth expresses, on the one hand, the hard work of the people of Sinaloa, and on the other, the commitment of the State Government to building an environment that fosters productive development, strengthens employment, and promotes economic activity in general,” he stated.
During the second quarter of 2025, Sinaloa registered an increase of 2.3%, placing it as the sixth fastest-growing state in the country. Castro Meléndrez highlighted the role of the primary sector, which saw a 32.5% increase, as well as the balanced participation of the secondary and service sectors, which, he said, reflect the identity, effort, and resilience of the Sinaloa economy.
Furthermore, in the first quarter of the year, Sinaloa led national economic growth with a 9.5% increase compared to the end of 2014 and a 4.0% year-on-year increase compared to the same period of the previous year, also according to INEGI (National Institute of Statistics and Geography).
These results confirm the fulfillment of the objectives of the Sinaloa State Development Plan, which seeks to maintain state GDP growth above the national average, consolidating the commitment of Governor Rubén Rocha Moya’s administration to sustained economic development and the well-being of Sinaloa families.
The ITAEE (State Economic Activity Index), which measures the evolution of economic activity in each state quarterly, demonstrates that the Sinaloa economy maintains strength, stability, and competitiveness at the national level.
