On the morning of Thursday, August 21, 2025, the shooting of a member of the Culiacán Municipal Police was confirmed. The violent incident took place outside the Emiliano Zapata High School of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS), located in the northeastern part of the state capital, according to the Secretariat of Public Safety and Municipal Transit (SSPyTM).

According to information provided by the police force, the deceased, identified as Armando Roberto “N,” was traveling in a Nissan vehicle on his day off, prompting an intense mobilization by emergency services and security forces from all three branches of government in the aforementioned area. It was also reported that the fallen officer was 40 years old and had served 17 years as a municipal agent.

Despite the presence of paramedics at the scene of the attack, the officer no longer showed vital signs due to the gunshot wounds he sustained. For its part, the Culiacán Municipal Public Safety and Transit Secretariat mourned the loss of the officer and assured that the victim’s family will be provided appropriate support, in accordance with the law and the agency’s protocols.

The report was received by 911 emergency lines around 7:50 a.m., where police were alerted to the armed attack on the driver of a Nissan Tsuru on Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez Street and Calzada de las Américas, prompting preventive officers to arrive at the scene,” explained the news website Línea Directa.
