In a vibrant display of culinary expertise and community spirit, Mazatlán has made history by creating the world’s longest sashimi line, measuring over 1 kilometer in length and featuring an astonishing 19,103 pieces of tuna. The record-breaking achievement was witnessed by dozens of local residents and tourists alike.

Under the rhythmic beats of a Sinaloa band, 300 Mazatlan chefs and culinary students from various schools collaborated to assemble the massive sashimi line, which began taking shape at 3:30 p.m. The event not only showcased the port’s rich gastronomic heritage but also highlighted its ability to come together in celebration.

According to Alfredo Arista, the Guinness World Record validator, key factors were considered for the record to be broken, including the sashimi being truly edible with its accompanying sauces. Upon validation, Arista extended his congratulations to all the chefs involved in preparing the dish, which surpassed the previous record of 5,343 pieces by a significant margin.

The festive atmosphere was enhanced by the presence of ten Sinaloan bands, who played continuously along the 1-kilometer route to entertain and energize the crowd. This remarkable display of music and cuisine was an initiative of the Mazatlán Chamber of Commerce, led by Francis Cazares, in conjunction with the Mazatlán National Gastronomic Council.

This achievement is a testament to the port’s ability to break records in various fields, including music. In December 2024, the Port of Mazatlán set a new Guinness World Record for the Folk Music Band, and now, just over two years later, history has repeated itself with this impressive sashimi line record.
