The governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, affirmed that tourism in the state has seen better figures than last year, driven primarily by the reactivation of cruise ships, with the arrival in Mazatlán of vessels that had never before called the port a stopover on their voyages across the Mexican Pacific.

The governor noted that, although security measures have not been lowered, productive activity continues to develop significantly, with tourism being one of the most dynamic sectors.

“Tourism, for example, has been very good; we have even had better numbers than last year. With regard to cruise passengers, thousands have arrived. Cruise ships that hadn’t arrived before have arrived, and for the first time, they have done so in Mazatlán,” he stated.

Rocha also highlighted other activities that have recently been held with great success in Mazatlán, such as Carnival, Easter holidays, and International Motorcycle Week.

“All of these events were successfully held, without any problems in the recreational areas. But I insist: we are not ignoring the current security situation, which we must still address, monitor, and combat,” he emphasized.

Recently, the state Tourism Secretariat reported that Mazatlán is increasingly consolidating its position as the “Jewel of the Pacific” for cruise tourism, with the arrival of more than 183,000 tourists by sea so far in 2025, generating an economic impact of more than 285 million pesos.

Regarding the new cruise ships that have arrived at the port for the first time, the governor highlighted the arrival, last Tuesday, May 6, of the luxurious MS Europa 2, considered one of the most exclusive cruise ships in the world. Coming from Los Cabos and bound for Puerto Vallarta, it carried 422 passengers and 364 crew members on board.
