Tourist activity along the El Habal-La Noria corridor came to a standstill this Sunday following violent incidents on the highway in that area, which left two vehicles burned.

Although the roads are clear, the La Noria Mi Pueblo Querido citizens’ committee announced through its social media channels that the Gastronomic and Artisan Market will not be held this Sunday.

“We appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you soon to enjoy our mezcal, beautiful handicrafts, and delicious cuisine,” the announcement reads.

Restaurants such as La Vaca Lupe also announced that they would be closed to the public this Sunday.

It was around 11:00 a.m. when a group of armed civilians blocked the El Habal-La Noria corridor highway with a torton vehicle, which they drove across the road and set on fire.

The incident occurred near the road to the town of Puerta de Canoas, leaving diners and tourists who had come with their families to eat at the area’s rural restaurants stranded.
