The Mazatlán International Carnival 2025, scheduled from February 27 to March 4, is well into its organization stage with significant progress reported.
Budget and Funding
Raúl Rico, Director of Culture, Tourism, and Art of Mazatlán, stated that while the definitive budget from the municipality is still pending, the estimated budget for the event is around 70 million pesos. This figure, similar to last year’s carnival, will cover expenses related to the artistic cast, floats, puppets, clothing, and other elements of the celebration. The event is also awaiting municipal resources and annual support from the Government of the State of Sinaloa.
“We are still waiting for the resources, but we are on time. It is normal; every year there is a delay, but we are moving forward in other areas. We still do not have the budget approval because we depend on the municipality’s budget and the state’s contribution. Once defined, we will be ready. The total figure is approximately 70 million pesos, including sponsors and artists,” Rico explained.
Theme and Artistic Contributions
This year’s edition, titled “La Perla,” will feature 11 puppets designed by both recurring sculptors and new talents. Notable artists include Harry Wilson, a renowned Cuban sculptor who has collaborated in multiple editions of the carnival, and Jorge Mata.
The carnival will also see the participation of 30 floats, two mobile puppets manipulated with cranes, and the incorporation of new carriage equipment, promising to surprise attendees.
“For Carnival, we are doing well and moving forward. The designs for the floats and puppets are already in place. The novelties are always the design and theme. There are 11 puppets, designed by both recurring and new artists, including Henry Wilson and Jorge Mata,” Rico said.
High-Level Performers
Although the list of performing artists has not yet been confirmed, Rico assured that they will be high-level figures, meeting the expectations of this important festivity, which is one of the most outstanding cultural and tourist events in Sinaloa.
With a mix of tradition, art, and entertainment, the Mazatlán International Carnival 2025 promises to be an unforgettable celebration for both locals and tourists.
