A crisis of violence and the lack of a solution by the authorities is bothering the citizens who trusted Rubén Rocha Moya. This Thursday, it was reported that a group of citizens went to the Electoral Institute of the State of Sinaloa (IEES) to formalize their request to begin the procedure to revoke the mandate of the current governor.

According to the Law of Revocation of the Mandate of the Head of the Executive Branch of the State, approved in February of this year, Article 5 establishes that the only cause to revoke the mandate of the governor of the State is “the loss of confidence”, although it does not specify in which cases this condition is considered to be met.

The citizens who met at the IEES delivered the letter of intention to revoke the mandate. In the offices of the local electoral institute they said they were fed up with the insecurity and the bad government of Rocha Moya, “who daily says that Sinaloa is calm” when in recent weeks violent events have increased in different regions.

The procedure established by law is that citizens inform the IEES three months after the conclusion of the third year of the constitutional term of the head of the state Executive Branch, and they may begin collecting signatures one month before, which can be collected in print and electronic media. In this case, Rubén Rocha’s three years of government end on October 31.

Similarly, for the revocation of mandate to proceed, it is necessary that at least 10 percent of the citizens registered on the nominal list participate, at least in 11 municipalities of the entity, without clarifying the minimum number of signatures per municipality that there must be.

While citizens are mobilizing in Sinaloa, Governor Rocha Moya is on a working tour in the country’s capital. On Thursday morning he met with Rosa Icela Rodríguez, head of the Ministry of the Interior, and at noon he had a private meeting with legislators in the Chamber of Deputies, although the topics discussed are unknown. Instead, upon leaving the legislative palace, he got stuck in the elevator along with some of his other colleagues in the movement.
