In 2024, the Sustainable Urban Development Directorate has issued almost 9 thousand construction licenses in the port.
The head of the office, Paúl Galindo Maldonado, mentioned that the figure represents up to 30 percent more than the permits that were issued last year.
“About three months ago we exceeded the goal of what was expected, construction in Mazatlán picked up a lot, which is good, trying to keep it organized, but there is a lot of construction,” he said.
He added that most of the permits are for modifications to homes, which although they are small constructions or remodeling, they have to be regulated.
New subdivisions
In the last City Council session, the councilors approved the construction of four new subdivisions, and another six are in process.
“We already had the last Vocacionamiento y Traza session, six were authorized, it is very important that Vocacionamiento y Traza is not a permit to build, at that stage they still do not pay a single peso of the right to the Municipality to build, there are no licenses,” he mentioned.
He added that the developer must integrate all his documentation and studies to be approved by the Commission of Urbanism, Ecology and Public Works, and later this will submit it to the plenary for approval.
The official foresees that these subdivisions do not reach the level of being authorized in administration.
