The Public Works Department of the municipal government has reinforced preventive actions through cleaning work in various canals in the urban and rural areas of the municipality, reported Rigoberto Arámburo Bojórquez.
These canals, lined with concrete and located at different points, are subjected to cleaning and dredging work before the arrival of the rains in the region, with the use of machinery and specialized personnel from the department.
The director of the department highlighted that a special crew has been assigned to remove weeds and garbage from bodies of water, with the aim of preventing future blockages that could cause flooding in low-lying areas.
“We have been working in the Ampliación Esperanza, Jesús García and Francisco I. Madero colonies. We have also carried out work in the rural area; we recently concluded in Villa Unión and we are currently working in La Tuna. We serve both primary and secondary canals,” he explained.
“It is important to mention that canal maintenance is a cyclical process, so we must return to perform second and third cleanings due to the accumulation of garbage and debris. We must pay the best possible attention to avoid blockages,” he added.
These actions are part of the comprehensive Civil Protection and Public Works strategy implemented by the Government of Mazatlán during the rainy and hurricane season.
