Access to bathers was restricted again to two large beaches in Mazatlán due to the strong and high waves that are present, due to the fact that the Aquatic Rescue Squadron, in the areas of the Isla de la Piedra and the old Lighthouse, had to rescue three national tourists who were at risk of suffering a major accident.

On August 8, on one of the beaches of the Golden Zone, a national visitor from the state of Chihuahua, named Ramón Valerio “N”, 35 years old, died after being taken to dry land by elements of the Eighth Naval Zone.

Regarding the three new rescues of national tourists who were exposed to the rip currents and the waves, Iván Alejandro Barrón Ureña, commander of the Aquatic Rescue Squadron said that in a first case, registered on the Isla de la Piedra, the teenager Ángel Brayan “N”, 17 years old, had to be hospitalized.

In a second case, in the Sábalo beach area, the rescue teams had to rescue Jesús N”, 25 years old and Luis “N”, 47 years old, since they were dragged by the waves out to sea.

He announced that the forecasts of clouds with winds will be present, so there will be very high waves and the rip currents that occur on some beaches, constitute a risk for visitors who enter to bathe.

He commented that there is greater surveillance to verify that the restrictions placed on the most dangerous beaches are complied with, in order to avoid any misfortune with fatal consequences.

According to the records, on August 8, elements of the Navy noticed that three bathers were asking for help to get out of the sea, since the rip currents prevented them from reaching dry land, so they went to their aid.

One of them, named Ramón Valerio “N”, 35 years old, died despite receiving first aid on the beach from paramedics, while the other two people only showed signs of fatigue and were nervous.
