For several months now, the prices of various basic food items have increased in Mazatlán markets.
In the municipal market “José María Pino Suárez” a kilo of lemon has already reached 60 pesos, when the previous week it was at 55 pesos; the price of a bag of eggs from 85 pesos went up to 95 pesos.
The tenant Sebastian Tirado said that the price of pork has registered an increase of 10 pesos, which will continue until November due to low demand.
He pointed out that a kilo of beef for roasting or steak remains at 220 pesos, and that of pork has registered an increase of 10 pesos, since it went from 120 to 130 pesos per kilo, and the rib from 110 pesos is now at 120 pesos.
Fruits and vegetables
The price of a kilo of avocado remains high, since in some places it reaches 95 pesos; Salad tomato is 35 pesos per kilo, while jalapeño peppers went from 41 pesos to 45 pesos per kilo.
A kilo of mango is 30 pesos; a kilo of watermelon is 26 pesos; a kilo of pineapple is 42 pesos, and an orange is 50 pesos.
According to the Federal Consumer Protection Agency, an agreement has been reached with producers and distributors that the package with the 24 basic products that Mexican families consume the most will remain below 1,039 pesos as a maximum.
