Brigadier General José Luis Chiñas Silva was named the new Commander of the National Guard in Sinaloa, this Monday at the El Sauz military complex.
Chiñas Silva was commander of the Seventh Military Zone in Nuevo León, and is currently a Diplomatic Brigadier General of the General Staff.
He also served as commander of the military garrison of Piedras Negras, Coahuila.
Previously, he held various positions within the SEDENA, such as commander of battalions in Nuevo León, Tlaxcala and Tabasco, commander of the Military Police in Mexico City and Guanajuato, head of intelligence and operations in military zones in Guanajuato, Morelos and Tabasco.
He was also head of the intelligence section of the SEDENA in Chiapas and Sinaloa, deputy chief of staff in Tamaulipas, chief of staff in Baja California, private secretary to the deputy chief of operations of the SEDENA General Staff, deputy director of operations of the federal registry of firearms and explosives, among others.
