The Secretary of Public Security of Mazatlán stated that elements of the State Attorney General’s Office went to validate the information, without finding evidence to substantiate the events.

The Secretary of Public Security of Mazatlán, Jaime Otoniel Barron Valdez, confirmed that the report received on the emergency lines about the alleged deprivation of liberty of seven family members in the Mazatlán Uno neighborhood was negative.

He reported that last Friday, a call to the emergency lines reported an alleged “kidnapping” of an entire family on Gaviotas Street in that neighborhood, and upon verifying the facts, it was confirmed that the report was false.

The municipal official stated that even elements of the State Attorney General’s Office went to validate the information, without finding any evidence or concrete data that would substantiate the events that had been reported.

Gerardo Mérida Sánchez, Secretary of Public Security of the State, alerted the population about false versions that are spread on social networks, about alleged “family kidnappings” in the city of Mazatlán.

He commented that a report was verified, which had a non-existent address, and therefore urged citizens not to spread unsubstantiated data.
