Businessman and hotelier Carlos Berdegué highlighted that there will be a 30 percent increase in airplane seats, but work must continue to increase the number and make it constant.

MAZATLAN.- The idea of continuing to promote the destination in all its points continues and an important point is air connectivity, mainly between Mazatlán and North America, which has already restarted with the majority of flights from Canada and the United States.

The vice president of the Association of Hotels and Tourist Companies of Mazatlán, Carlos Berdegué Sacristán, expressed that for the current year that is about to end, a particular cold is estimated in the northern part of America, which has led people to seek shelter in warmer destinations, like Mexico.

The trend marks a considerable and important increase in the different hotel reservations in Mazatlán, leaving pleasant numbers for everyone.

“The international flight program for the winter season has already started, it is very cold in the United States and Canada, reservations are going very well according to airport reports, flights from these countries have had a high occupancy which is a positive sign in the recovery of tourism.”

The idea is to be able to maintain connectivity, said Berdegué Sacristán, since this is the main challenge for Mazatlán to continue along the same path not only seasonally, but all year round and to leave benefits for everyone with the arrival of more visitors to the port.

The hotelier acknowledged that the destination has very good connectivity, but that when it is compared to other points such as Los Cabos or Puerto Vallarte, it is very low, so work must be done to have a good number all year round.

“This year we are only going to have a 30 percent increase in international plane seats, compared to the previous season, but it is still not enough,” he concluded.
