Two alleged members of the Los Chapitos security force were surprised by the Sedena and the National Guard
On the morning of September 23, federal authorities deployed an intense operation in the exclusive Alegranza residential area of Culiacán, Sinaloa.
With at least one helicopter and a large convoy of armored vehicles, the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) and the National Guard (GN) entered the housing complex minutes after eight in the morning, as recorded on surveillance cameras.
Unofficial versions indicated that the military mobilization had the objective of capturing Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar, alias “Alfredillo”, but this was later denied. Instead, the Army found two alleged Los Chapitos bodyguards.
At house number 23 on Circuito Paseo de España street, military agents detained Cristian Rafael Rodríguez (27 years old) and Kevin Noé García (24), identified as part of the security force of the criminal organization.
Their identities were confirmed by the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) through the National Registry of Detentions (RND). Apparently, the alleged hitmen were located thanks to anonymous reports, since the Sedena was alerted of “unusual movements” in one of the homes in the private Alegranza, as well as subjects with long weapons and trucks without license plates.
After breaking the access barrier to enter the residential complex, the military captured the alleged escorts and seized long weapons of different calibers, a gray Ram TRX truck and a Defender, as well as drugs in unspecified quantities that share the characteristics of fentanyl.
Information pending official corroboration indicated that both Kevin and Cristian were residents of Culiacán and had homes in the Miguel Hidalgo and La Campiña neighborhoods, respectively.
Both young people were transferred to be placed at the disposal of the Federal Public Ministry, while the house with number 23 was secured by the authorities so that elements of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR) could carry out the corresponding search.
Despite the magnitude of the operation and the relevance of the apprehended subjects, the Sedena has not issued any statement detailing the circumstances under which these captures occurred.
